Inspect These 3 Appliances Now to Avoid Plumbing Problems Later

Posted on February 28, 2022

Your home is full of appliances that need regular inspection. You might have minor issues right now you may not even be aware of that could turn into major plumbing disasters if left unattended.

Your dishwasher.

The dishwasher is one of the most common culprits of big plumbing problems. If you notice water pooling around your dishwasher or if it’s dripping from underneath, the problem could be a leaky hose connection or a clog in the drain line. To find the source of the problem, you’ll first need to turn off the water supply at the valve and disconnect the hoses from the dishwasher. Then, you can try to clear any debris from inside or replace the hoses.

Your washing machine.

Detergent and fabric softeners are great at leaving your clothes looking clean and smelling fresh. But over time, the build-up of detergent and fabric softener can create a clog in the drainage system. This will cause water to back up into the washer, which can damage both the machine and your floors. It’s essential to clean out the drainage system regularly and use only the recommended amount of detergent.

Your toilet.

A leaky toilet can be a real nuisance. Not only does it waste water, but it can also lead to serious damage to your home if not fixed quickly. If you’re experiencing a leaky toilet, there are a few things you can do to try and fix it yourself. First, check the flapper. This is the most common cause of leaks, and it’s a relatively easy fix. If the flapper is worn or damaged, replace it. You can also try tightening the bolts that hold the toilet to the floor. If neither of these solutions fixes the leak, you may need to call in a professional.

Minor issues with leaks and clogs are common with appliances connected to your plumbing. Some are easily fixed, and others can be avoided entirely with regular maintenance. Of course, we can also assist.
